Chapter 7

One Month Later…

Rolling out of bed, I had a major attitude. I’d been up all fucking night, waiting for Kaysin to come through. Usually, he never stayed out past two, because he had to go to school in the mornings, and not doing so was a probation violation. So, I was shocked once day broke and he still wasn’t in.

Yes, I could’ve blown up his phone, but I didn’t wanna be that girl. I’d been in a relationship where I felt smothered. I knew how dealing with an insecure person could be a turn off, which is why I’d kept my mouth closed. Still, Kasyin not coming home was completely abnormal.

Always doing whatever he said he would, he’d bought a car nearly a month ago. So, now, me, him, Grey, and his brother Kory rode to school together every morning. Just knowing that he would never leave me hanging, I prepared for school, just as I would any other morning.

The day before, I’d gotten my hair done up in a ponytail that reached my ass. So, I unwrapped my hair, and played with my lashes a bit. Nike leggings, a belly shirt, and Air Max’s was the look for the day. Since it was cool out, I threw on a cropped bubble Nike jacket.

Not knowing if Kaysin was gonna be back in time to take us to school, had me fuming. Now, we all had to get ready at least 40 minutes early to at least catch the school bus, if all else failed.

After getting ready, I impatiently waited on Grey. As usual, she was taking her time, like the world revolved around her.

“Grey!” I shouted from the living room. “Come the hell on! Damn!”

A few seconds later, I heard someone stomping down the hallway, before Azure came into view, clad in an oversized t-shirt that I knew wasn’t hers. As of late, she’d been having company. It was the same dude each time, but we really didn’t know him, as he’d always make a beeline straight to her room, whenever he’d come through.

“Girl, why the hell are you doing all that screaming?” she fussed.

“Cause.” I sucked my teeth. “Grey needs to hurry up. Before we miss this bus.”

She frowned. “The bus? Why Kaysin aint taking y’all?”

My jaw tightened. “He’s not here.”

She squinted. “He never came back last night?”

I huffed out. “No.”

“Well, do you know where he’s at?”

My nostrils flared. “Ma, does it look like I know?”

“Hey, now.” She lifted her hand. “Watch your tone. I was just asking a question.”

I breathed. “My bad. I’m just irritated, right now. Cause this is so unlike him.”

Azure nodded. “It sure aint. But Blue…I don’t want you to get all mad at me, okay?”

Frustrated, I opened my arms. “Ma, just say what you gotta say.”

“Okay.” She nodded. “We all know that you’re a pretty girl. You’ve always had your pick of boys. And then you get with Kaysin and y’all hit it off instantly. The problem is that…you got to explore your options, before you got with him.
